Christopher Behringer, DO

This month, the Bureau of Emerging Leaders (BEL) highlights one of our members, Christopher Behringer, DO.

Christopher Behringer, DO, was born and raised in Saudi Arabia before moving to the United States for college. He attended the University of Central Florida, where he double majored in microbiology/molecular biology and biotechnology while pursuing his passion for music. He found great enjoyment in teaching young aspiring musicians and performing on the Grammy Soundstage and Playboy Mansion.

Dr. Behringer was drawn to the osteopathic profession for its profound impact on humanity. While attending Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Bradenton (LECOM-Bradenton), he helped establish the OMT TA program, solidifying his passion for medicine. He discovered that his love for teaching and performing could make medical education more engaging, help patients better understand their health care and empower them. Dr. Behringer graduated from LECOM-Bradenton in 2018. He completed his family medicine residency at Sampson Regional Medical Center in North Carolina in 2021, and served as chief resident in his final year. He is AOA board-certified in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT).

Dr. Behringer’s medical career is driven by a deep commitment to the moral mission of medicine and its impact on humanity. From co-founding a TA program in medical school to mentoring future physicians, to co-authoring family medicine guidelines for Saudi Arabia, and launching the first OMT and Acupuncture program in his region—having trained at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine—he has remained dedicated to using medicine as a force for good. He firmly believes medicine is an art, offering endless opportunities to express passion through research, advocacy and education. For Dr. Behringer, the field of medicine is not just about healing but about leaving a meaningful and lasting impact on the world.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Behringer enjoys playing and creating music, as well as staying active at the gym. A dedicated weightlifter and Muay Thai enthusiast, he has even trained alongside professional fighters in Thailand. At home, he finds comfort in the company of his four cats, who have been by his side throughout his medical journey. Dr. Behringer is eager to continue his path in osteopathic medicine and hopes to inspire others to view medicine as a reflection of their passions and a means of self-expression.
