This symposium brings together experts in rural and indigenous health care. The conference aims to examine the long-standing health care gaps that continue to affect individuals in rural and indigenous communities. The program will explore social, economic and environmental challenges that prevent optimal health, leading to differences in health outcomes.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Understand longstanding health care gaps that continue to face individuals who are American Indian/Alaskan native or live in rural communities.
  • Examine the social, economic and environmental challenges that prevent individuals living in rural and or tribal communities from achieving optimal health.
  • Understand the role of patient and community perspectives, values and resources in the delivery of high quality health care.
